Research group desks in Global Markets

Hello,

I will be doing an SA in the Research Group within the Global Markets Division (think DB, CS, BAML)

I have the opportunity to work on the following desks: Equity Credit Rates FX Commodities Capital Markets

My overall goal is to become a trader or lateral to a HF later on. Which group do you guys think has the best life style, pay, and offers best exit opps.

Thanks

No one here will have had experience in all of those areas so probably won't be able to comment with authority.

Additionally if you don't know what kind of exit ops you are focusing on (macro fund? FX trader? etc) no one can really address this. Wanting to become a hedge fund trader is ridiculously broad.

I apologize for the broad description. I applied for a trader position but was offered the role in research. They siad the research divison is placed in the trading floor. I have been given the option of chosing which desk I prefer to work in. My goal is to become an FX trader later on, but don't know if working in the research division will open such doors later on.

Anyone have any experience with FX research. For ex pay, hours, exit opps

Thanks in advance

But after giving your preference, do you still get to work at all the other desks? I guess I don't really understand how it can be rotational when you have to give a preference.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. Its basically you give your preference, and chose the top 4 desks you wish to work in. The Desk chooses which interns are a fit and then you do a rotation on 2 desks throughout the internship.
