Resigning Question

I’m currently a first year analyst at a MM bank. I might be leaving to go to a different MM bank in a different coverage group (think industrials to technology). I like my team a lot (I work with the same 2-3 people) and don’t want to screw them over. I would be leaving because of some changes in the group and a better industry fit.

How do I resign if the time comes? I would like to give them atleast a 2 week heads up but I know they will lock me out the second I tell them I’m going to another bank.

Can I tell them I’m taking a different opportunity but not give any more detail? I’m trying to balance protecting myself and giving the guys closest to me a fair heads up.

Would appreciate any advice
