SA Unhappy in Coverage Group

Hello,

I interned at a BB this summer and received a full-time offer to return to my group. The issue is that I do not like the coverage industry, and the culture is odd.

I know this is a problem some people wish they could have with this economy (wishing all the interns who got cut the best), but I still am trying to consider options to make a move if possible. I do not want a career in this industry and almost all of the analysts that have left are joining industry-specific funds or other relevant jobs. I can probably handle the 2 years in banking but I would never want to work on the buy-side in this industry. Feels scummy.

Is it possible to ask HR about "exploring interests" in other groups? Should I try and FT recruit to another bank? Should I just not risk it and eat the 2 years?

I feel like my work quality and drive would be way higher if I actually gave af about the industry.
