As the titles states, I was just laid off as my firm was struggling and had no intentions to invest in new deals for the time being (I was in acquisitions).
The job market is obviously not what it was at the beginning of the year and now that I am searching for a new role, I was wondering where people suggest I look for a new role (company, sector, etc.)
What do people suggest I do with my downtime aside from networking? Are there any recommended courses/books/licenses worth getting?
(Happy to connect and discuss opportunities if you are seeking an analyst btw)
Thank you
what market are you in
NYC (and I prefer not to move anywhere too far)
Take a look at asset management roles. I've noticed a lot of shops have slowed down on the acquisitions front but are expanding AM teams to help with capex projects/reworking leases/etc. Less sexy work but stable and you learn the nuts and bolts of the biz.
Thank you for the advice!
What would the transition back to acquisitions/lending look like?
Have you found anything/had any interviews?
