Setting yourself apart
Curious how one can set themselves up for success in high finance recruiting. From what I have seen, my peers who have "less popular" interests, and have become specialists within that field have had no issues breaking in. For example, I have a friend who became fascinated with the Fixed Income field and has had no issues grabbing top internships but most of my peers just interested in banking are having trouble.
For what it's worth, I know Fixed Income is still huge, and popular, but it's not as popular as something like IB M&A.
What are some less sought after areas within high finance? Restructuring?
