Shooting myself in the foot by switching to Biometry and Statistics?

I'm a rising sophomore in Cornell in AEM. I'm contemplating a change to Cornell's Biometry and Stats major with a minor in AEM (Cornell won't let me change in A&S to study in their statistics major). From what I can tell, Cornell's biometry and stats major has the same coursework as A&S's stats.

Part of my reason is, I find a business major pretty useless and too technical for my taste. Also, I've lately become interested in prop trading firms, and I'm hoping that a statistics background with advanced math coursework would aid me in my pursuit of these firms. From what I understand, most prop trading firms don't like business majors too much.

Am I shooting myself in the foot by leaving AEM?

umm well coursework is exactly the same as A&S stats. everything is crosslisted.

Math major is also in A&S. However, the way I've planned out the rest of college, I would basically be double majoring in math and statistics.

Nope. I'm only a rising sophomore because I'm graduating a year late because of some personal circumstances. Should I just double in AEM and stats if I wanna go into prop trading?

Your major doesn't matter that much, because you're at Cornell. I have friends who aren't even in AEM and are going to top boutiques/BBs. However, with that said, AEM offers A LOT of upper level finance courses that can prepare you very well for IB/S&T/etc... so I think you should think twice before switching majors, since there are A LOT of people at Cornell who want to get into AEM.
