Should I assume a ding/waitlist?

Interviewed with smaller regional shop in the south. Final rounds were conducted starting 1.5 weeks ago. Mine was scheduled Wednesday (so on the later end), and I have not heard back, they told me I’d hear back soon. I saw someone just recently post their offer. Should I assume a ding?

You've got it all backwards. If you're demographically like most people on this site, you have so many decades to get things right. You're on a good track to getting a high-paying job that most people could only dream of having. Stay motivated, and continue to learn about new firms and get into contact with people. There's an opportunity out there with your name on it. You have only to seize it. You may have invested significant time pursuing this one opportunity, but try your best to parlay that preparation into something else.
