Should I Chase HR?

folks, i m recently interviewing with one IB, and after all interviews last week, HR contacted me saying everything is positive and they want to move quick.......but just these days, they are saying they have some delays and will give me update in 2-3 weeks......

is this switching tone a NEGATIVE sign?? seems like another better applicant just pops up and they want to wait for that guy.......

any thoughts?? should i ask HR if they can let me know if my application is still positive?? really confused here..........

Could very well be the case. Unfortunately, these situations are a part of the process. Hiring manager may be telling them to put u on hold b/c he wants to check out someone else, or there could be a headcount/budget approval issue that suddenly came up. Then again, some key decision maker could still be on vacation & hasn't replied to HR yet. Stay positive.

This is has happened to me in the past and it was budget/headcount approval issue

i have same feeling on this as well, just checked with HR if there is any new negativities or uncertainities and got a reply, "No new developments, we still processing to offer approvals for you. May have small change to the team that we put you into. There is actually no change to the schedule."

seems good so far.......

Majority of the time HR doesn't know anything. The real people who know the staffing needs are the individual groups. It could be anything from finding another candidate or one of the decision makers is on vacation. Too many factors are involved. Just wait it out until the deadline passes and then start contacting HR.
