Should I Put My Lower Tier Sorority on My Resume?

hey people !!

im a rising junior at penn state and ive heard from my sisters that putting a "less prestigious" sorority (think delta gamma/phi mu/zeta tau alpha) on your resume will form a bad first impression because interviewers will think you got dropped by a tier 1 sorority (think alpha phi/kappa kappa gamma/alpha omega/delta delta delta)

some of the frat men ive dated have also said the same thing, if theyre in a black/jewish frat they just leave it off their resume, they say you should only put the best frats on your resume (think pi alpha kappa/sigma chi), or frat alumni at bb/ebs (especially prestigious, men-dominated ones (think cvp/jpm/citi/pjt)) will scoff at them

can any girlies or men on here give me some advice :))))

Put it on your resume. If you hold leadership positions in your sorority even better. Why do people put Thon on their resume? Besides being a phenomenal talking point about how you're involved in the largest student-run philanthropy effort in the US, holding a leadership position at the committee level and above is a good way to distinguish yourself beyond your academic pursuits and work experience. You have the ability to show soft skills, managerial skills, and some leadership ability that way. The same holds true with being in a sorority. It's just another talking point to help differentiate yourself.

Not Greek myself, but I have a lot of respect for black fraternities, much more so than others. Definitely would put those on there.

Also, it's hard to say what a prestigious sorority is as it depends from campus to campus. For example, on my campus, Delta Gamma was the best house. If I'm an interviewer who is not intimately familiar with your school, I'll probably have zero clue on what's prestigious and what's not.

I'm gonna be honest, you are so weird my man.

Go get laid instead of shitposting as a pretend-woman on wso
