should I study abroad at Oxford if it might conflict with IB SA start date

I'm debating whether or not to study abroad for a full year at Oxford as the earliest I'd be able to come back to the US would be 6/6, which is about a week after most 2026 BB SA programs start (I have a couple offers). While I'd definitely prioritize an internship, I'd also highly regret not going to Oxford. Would greatly appreciate any advice

If it means you can’t do a summer internship then I would forego Oxford. If your uni offers a year abroad there then I presume it’s top tier anyway and you won’t extract that much value career wise by going there. Also will note that if you go to Oxford you’re really only going for the academic experience, the social element of it won’t really be a thing because it’s super intense.

Gotcha, I go to a barely semi target and feel like Oxford would add to my resume; I’d only miss the first week of the internship too and the banks said they’d accommodate that but it’s definitely not ideal- not sure what to do bc my deadline to decide on Oxford is tomorrow lol

Ah I see. Your reply actually flips my advice. So Oxford > your current university and the banks said they’d accommodate? Mate, go for it, missing the first week of your internship isn’t a big deal just impress with the time you have there

June 6 is already leaving 2 weeks early (which I won’t know for sure if I’ll be able to until next spring); they wouldn’t let me leave earlier without risking amount of credits I’d receive
