Should non-diversity be networking right now?
Rising sophomore here. Was wondering if we should start to network right now or if that will come off wrong. Was told that it might put some people off as a non-diversity to be networking since it's taking away from diversity recruits and also might come off as hardo. Any insight would be appreciated.
Rising non-diversity soph here. I still don't understand the "you'll look like a hardo" comments; many of the bankers I have spoken to have explicitly complimented me for reaching out this early and told me that I'm "doing the right thing."
Also, I seriously have no idea how diversity plays into this; one of my female friends is also networking right now, and being a woman has had pretty much no impact on that. I've even been encouraged to apply to diversity-focused (but not exclusive) programs by people who knew I was non-diverse.
