Single offer - don't know how to feel

I'm an international STEM student at a target school. I have no spring week/prior finance experience as I made the career switch fairly late but have some involvement in university societies. I only got 1 AC which I managed to convert into an offer at an 'upper' MM

I am very very grateful. However, I put in a lot of effort and can't help but feel disappointed that only one firm really 'wanted' me. I think I will really enjoy the work and will give it my absolute best so that I can convert it into a FT role.

However, If I do not get a return offer, what are the chances that I can get another SA/FT offer given that most firms didn't even interview me this year? I need a visa to stay in the UK and so would a switch to accounting/audit at a Big 4 be possible bearing in mind my internship?

You options are; off-cycles, another SA at another bank, Big 4 or Masters.

It's not the end of the world. I'm in the same boat.

Getting something is better than nothing, especially an IB internship. That places you ahead of many people already.

If it doesn’t work out, you can get on the HPI and stay here to do another summer, off cycles or work wherever while recruiting for other roles. Not the end of the world.

Congrats on the offer!

Good news: you’re just freaking yourself out.

  • The goal was to get a summer internship in IB, you did that.
  • You got an internship in IB at a solid firm in a HORRENDOUS market, you’ve done well.
  • Your concerns about previously lacking experience are now due to be over post-internship. You will also have 3rd year to do more ECs etc.
  • You’re at a target school with a prized IB SA role on your CV. When it comes time to send out your next round of applications (if you don’t convert / want to move) you will be FINE.

Seriously, go read some of the other posts of people on here. You’re doing more than ok!!
(also congratulations and fuck you I wish I was in your shoes)
