SQL/C++/VBA Important?

Hey guys, had a few questions on my mind, thought I would ask the community.

My future plans are to dive into finance. I'm in my 3rd year now and think it would be wise to start picking up things for my resume. I'm already at an internship but wanted to ask:

In regard to finance, how important is it to know, be able to read, or even write codes like C++/SQL/VBA or any others?

Which one is the most important if there is one? Is there any specific part of finance that may require it more than others?

And lastly, how I can get started on it? I was just thinking get a few books and start practicing, but if any of you have been through this I would appreciate any tips/insight.

Thanks in advance,

I'm out.

VBA is easy. Pick up an Excel VBA book for a little guidance. Easiest thing to do is to record macros and look at the code that was generated. Then tweak the code to your liking. The VBA help function is very helpful (not the Excel help -- two different things). Also, if you know what you are trying to accomplish my recommendation is to search the web for snippets.

Unless you are a natural programmer, C++ will be harder to learn in a short period of time and most companies that want C++ don't want someone who is a beginner.

Takes like a day to learn VBA, helpful if you are in any group.

C++ is important if you want to be a quant.

...that's about it
