Study History and work in Finance?

I'm already done with my accounting major, have another year left to pick up a finance double major, or minor/maybe major in history. I'm thinking what the fuck, it sounds super interesting. I have an internship lined up at Big 4 (advisory) this summer, with hopefully a return offer so I'm doing pretty good. Looking to do either consulting or banking depending on how I like this internship.

I think history would make me better in business. Critical thinking, writing, communicating, looking at the past to understand the present and future. It would help me stand out from the 1,000's of other finance/accounting melvins out there. Especially for consulting given its a bit "softer" than high-finance jobs.

Don't get me wrong, I love finance too. Way more than accounting. I'm active in finance related clubs and everything and I love it. I also don't wanna fuck myself if I want to end up doing banking. Idk how they'd feel if I wasn't a finance major and just accounting.

What do you guys think? Happy Friday btw

I have met English majors from Oxford who were recruited into FLDPs at Barclays. So I guess it is possible.
I understand that recruiting is different in England to the US, but if the college brand is there, the candidate interviews well, and you already have a finance related background.. why not?

History making you better at business... it could, but I think that is very broad. Possible, but not the perfect course for a business subject matter.

What area do you want to cover at some point in the business world?

imo since you are majoring in accounting its a good major to land u in finance/banking/ consulting etc… Now if u want to be practical definitely choose finance however if you are really interested in history go for it its fine

I have a liberal arts major (History) and have found that it has helped me land interviews due to my ability to write well and think critically. I do have somewhat of a finance background with some courses taken as well.
