Summer 2023 Recruiting Advice

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction for the summer 2023 recruiting process for the US. Some background: I'm currently a sophomore at a Canadian semi-target (Ivey/Queens) but didn't get into any of the prestigious investment clubs (QUIC/Limestone, etc). I worked a term at a US-based search fund and also an LMM PE fund with two portfolio companies but struck out on 2022 sophomore summer internships at prestigious firms (Altas, Burgundy, etc).

I was hoping someone could shed some light on the best next steps to take in order to break into the US banking scene despite not being a part of the school's main pipelines (investment clubs & prestigious sophomore internships). Are there any other types of firms I should be reaching out to for SA 2022 to prepare for junior year recruiting? My biggest fear is that my resume is not competitive enough to even get first rounds at the top firms based in the US.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I’d say target part time search funds or small IB shops (literally so many in Toronto) for the school year and then heavily network right now to set yourself up nicely once recruitment szn kicks off in Jan/Feb/March. You got this!
