Taking SIE going into college
Going to be a freshman at UChicago. I want to be competitive for the top clubs, and I've been learing (center) a lot this summer. I am honestly good enough to take the SIE. IF I were to take it and pass before arriving to campus would that help with club recruiting or make me look like a squid who is obsessed with finance and shit to be around?
Tbh if ur indian/asian/jewish it's not a good look, don't want to look like a "striver"
Plus not needed just prove yourself in interviews
Agree with this
Step 1: Be socialable aka can you hold a conversation without freaking out.
Step 2: Talk to as much EXEC as possible so they remember your name and hope that you did step 1 right
Step 3: Get first round interview at said club and then impress
Step 4: Brag on linkedin about how you got in
Step 5: Get out placed by your friend who didnt even join any clubs
The SIE is easy af, no one cares if you have it. You can study for it in inside of a week/days. It means nothing. Enjoy your free time.
Completely useless to take it now since it lasts 4 years without association and then you'll have to take it again anyways when you start FT way down the line. I wouldn't even recommend taking it in the middle of college either to be honest but I definitely would recommend getting it done before training starts for your FT role – which is also – way down the line. Point is, just focus on other things for now, and the time to plan for this will come way later. Also, mostly every firm will send over training materials in your senior year to get this done and give you a voucher for the exam.
Depends what you’re doing for your post-grad summer
…wouldn’t call it a bad move to do it in July or August (after freshman or sophomore year) given you probably won’t have an intense internship.
Would rather spend summer after graduation traveling somewhere…just a thought
I mean YMMV, but the exam takes like a week max to study out of school.
Just wait till you have to take it for the job no point in worrying about until than.
