Trading Internship - Senior starting at a prop firm
I'm a senior who will be starting at a prop firm around August/September. Is it possible for me to get some kind of S&T internship over the summer? I want to do this to gain a little experience in trading as well to make a little extra cash.
All of my school listings require junior standing (graduating December or later)... How do I go about finding an internship? Is this extremely difficult to do?
I'm not experienced in banking/trading, though from a professionalism standpoint, I'm not sure if that would look all too great if you have already committed to the position starting in August then turning around and jumping into an internship. You may run the risk of doing the internship and actually getting an offer at that shop. May not look good if you turn down their offer... or it may end up that their offer is better than your original offer that starts in August...
Just my 2cents... but again, like I said, I've never worked in the Finance industry...
wow, if you intern and turn down an offer, it looks bad? I never knew turning down an offer after an internship was a bad thing to do
To be honest, I've never interned before. So, I'm not an expert. I have, however, hired and extended offers to several interns. I know from my own personal experience how I perceive "turndowns". My disclaimer again, I've never worked in the finance industry though.
