U of Toronto Master of Financial Economics (MFE)

Does anyone have any insight info as to the placements, recruiting process and overall experience? Thinking of applying for the 2024 intake. Also curious as to admission profiles as it's somewhat vague on the website.

The MIT-LGO program has placement processes that are tailored to each industry concentration — Biotech and Healthcare, Business Analytics, Digital Manufacturing & Design, Energy, Logistics & Supply Chain and Robotics & Autonomous Systems. Each program also provides unique student experiences such as internships, industry-focused projects and other hands-on learning opportunities. Admission profiles vary across the different industry concentrations, but generally require a background in engineering, business or science. The program also looks at academic achievement, leadership potential, career objectives and personal characteristics. Candidates are encouraged to have relevant industry experience prior to enrolling. The process for the 2024 intake will be released in due course and prospective students should keep an eye on their website

Placements tend to be mostly in Toronto with 100% placement for the mandatory work term component, and it seems like just about everybody finds work following graduation. With regards to the experience, it is a cohort based program so if you enjoy being around the same people and building those relationships I would recommend looking into it. It definitely helps those in a finance-related field such as economics, math, statistics, etc. transition into capital markets, but the program is also suitable for those with a business background looking to step up their understanding of economics and business through graduate level economics and MBA courses.
