Uchicago full price worth it?

Hello, lucky to say I got accepted into uchicago and am very fortunate to be from a a well off family so we will be paying full price (close to 400k all in). I will be v fortunate in that I will not take on any debt but since I am quite conscious of the massive investment made by my parents I of course will be pursuing a high paying job straight out of uni and hopefully paying my family back at least a share of the college cost asap. Hence, what would you guys think is the payback period of a uchicago degree broken down by best case (ib/hf) , average (idk what that looks like) and worst case (if I give it my all but due to unluckiness - Big 4). Assume I try to save as much as possible but not at the cost of sometimes going out and have friends and all that.

Also another question - what does it take to break into the top shops (GS TMT and the like) for male diversity who’s by no means a wonder kid. Like will I have to sacrifice every waking moment of my college career all for the tiny opportunity of getting into the top groups or is it actually achievable if you play cards right. Also wondering how many people who want to go ib don’t make it from targets and common reasons why. Thanks so much for reading so far and would be really grateful if you could help out.

You mean well and you have a lot of drive. You're also 17 probably. You need to unwind--I mean that sincerely in the best interest of your social life and happiness, as well as in the best interest of your career. I go to UChicago and I will tell you why some of these target students don't get SA offers: character and behaviorals. No, the answer to this issue isn't to go study right now to nail "what's your greatest weakness?"

Enjoy the rest of your HS experience and continue to develop naturally. It sounds like you are on the path of becoming a hardo. Those sweats have a hard time landing offers because everyone can see through their technical perfection and observe and awkward, stunted kid who obsessed over which specific IBD group has the highest MF placement since high school. I don't know if that's you or not, but I advise you to be aware of it. Again, this is in the best interest of your social and professional life.

It sucks to say for our non-target friends, but UChicago is of the highest quality stamp you can have on your resume, especially for finance and economics. Career advancement staff will tell you this from day one. There is nothing inherently limiting you from reaching your goals. GS TMT is difficult for any college. There are those on this site who will yap about the edge that Wharton has over UChicago or that Harvard has over Stanford. There may be truth to it at times--plenty of nepo Wharton offices around; but UChicago is of the highest caliber to develop your academic and professional carer.

Wishing you the best of luck. Don't let go but do consider my advice. It may be in your best interest to stay away from here until recruiting to focus on your social skills, interests, passions, and enjoyment of life. I came here as a philosophy major and I did not know what investment banking was. I am returning to a top BB full time. Take care
