UIUC vs Fordham Ms in Finance
I have 9 years of experience working in risk management at large global banks, mainly across credit risk and stress testing.
I am an international asian female student and looking to transition into more front-office aligned roles and plan to pursue MS Finance program.
I have received acceptance from
- UIUC(Geis Business School) with no scholarship
Fordham MSF with $20k scholarship
I am honestly confused with the choices, most students I connected with advised to select UIUC even without scholarship. However I am a bit biased towards Fordham due to it’s location and Scholarship offer(which can be negotiated to $30k)I want genuine advice from industry expert, what are my chances of landing a Front office Market Risk analytics job from either of these institute.

Recommendation:
If your primary goal is to transition into front-office Market Risk Analytics roles, Fordham's NYC location and scholarship offer make it a compelling choice. The proximity to Wall Street and the ability to network extensively could outweigh UIUC's slightly stronger academic reputation. However, if you are confident in your ability to leverage UIUC's resources and alumni network, it remains a solid option.
Ultimately, your decision should weigh the financial implications, your comfort with networking, and your long-term career goals.
