Vals Intern Offer...Want IB

Hey everyone,

Just want to keep it short and simple, and would love some advise. I have accepted an inter summer offer to a Valuation division think (Duff, big 4, A&M) but realized I settled to early and now really really want IB. This offer is for Summer 2022 and I am a junior currently. I know most SA apps are long gone, but is there still a chance any banks apps are open. Or should I just network heavily with alumni presence for full time interviews in august? At this point I would prefer NYC but would relocate if need be for an SA

Knowing people who have made the switch, you could technically do both but most IB shops (BB, MM and EBs among others) have probably filled their SA spots for this summer. That is not to say random spots won't open at those places, but a combination of networking and searching through job boards will be the avenue for finding such roles at this point.

You should be able to compete for FT IB spots given the valuation role is one of the adjacent fields for IB (in a sense). I would lean into networking with different shops this summer to make sure you can get an interview spot and making sure you are up to speed on interview guides (WSO and M&I), especially technicals given your summer experience going into this fall.
