Visa for european student
Which US bank or firm sponsor visa for European students?
Hey guys, I am a student in the EU and have top BB (GS, MS, JP) experience. I really want to do an internship in the US, however didn't study there, and no citizen. Is there any opportunity to do an internship there or get a FT position? If yes how and which firms do sponsor? Thanks for your help in advance
Sorry, in my experience the answer is no, there is no opportunity for an internship or full-time position. Unless you have connections up there, banks will not want to spend resources on someone who most likely will have to leave after one year when there's plenty of domestic applicants. I had a similar profile to yours.
Your options:
- Get a return offer from the BB you interned at, work there full time for 2 years, be a top performer and request a rotation/transfer
- Get a degree in the US (e.g. Sloan MFin)
thanks for the advice - how likely is it to get the rotational to either NYC or SF if you are in the LDN office? I thought a lot of people try to do that and its difficult to get?
In most banks it’s competitive and you’d have to be the top performer in the class on your team. Some banks don’t do rotation so that’s something you can ask about on networking calls and at the end of interviews
