Thanks. I guess I put it wrong. I'm definitely not quitting unless it's to actually move on to the next firm. My question is more, because interviewing would be such a process (take days off for a super day, time away to take initial round interviews) should I even bother interviewing, unless I decide for sure I would quit?

And also, not just that. If I do decide I'd quit, would interviewers really be impressed by the short tenure here? I'm sure at least a year gives me much more leverage. It's just that I'd be waiting and hoping another opportunity presents itself, despite there's potentially one right now.

If you think you want to do banking, take the opportunity to go do banking. Don't operate under the assumption that more tenure in your current role makes it easier for you to get opportunities down the road. To the contrary, it may make it harder as you get pigeonholed as an ops guy.

You're right. But I'm just wondering if my attempt would seem serious or not. 2 months and trying to jump... I didn't look for it to go this way. But it's kind of great to have the opportunity. Thanks

Just wondering how others have handled or would handle this situation.
