what if two headhunters both submit your profile to the same PE firm?
two headhunters i'm working with both reached out about the same opportunity/PE firm and submitted my resume to the firm. i'm curious how this would work if the PE firm is to select me for interviews - which headhunter would they notify? also, one of the headhunters has another PE client i'm currently in interviews with - i thought headhunters stop giving you other opportunities once you're interviewing with one of their clients??
Also interested - if it helps, this happened to me once, and they selected the HH that submitted my CV first
This is pretty unusual as the vast majority of firms have formal recruiting contracts with a single HH (e.g., "exclusively cover all associate recruiting for next 12 months"), so this situation sounds pretty odd.
With that said, yes, I'd imagine the credit will go to whichever firm submits your resume to the firm and ultimately ferries you through a successful process.
what if the HH that first submitted my resume (i.e. HH A) is the one that has me interviewing with another client of theirs (i.e. PE firm B)? let's say if i get an offer from PE firm A (which I'm currently interviewing with, got introduced to by HH A) and also get invited to interview by PE firm B,would this HH A still communicate to me that I've been chosen to interview with PE firm B? will the second HH get any update from PE firm B about their decision to interview me?
These are tough scenarios to guess. Generally, if you get an offer from A, the HH will expect you to accept and will not actively move you along in process B unless the timelines are extremely similar (where you could realistically get both offers within ~24 hours of each other) (and even then, still unlikely).
Is Firm B a client of HH #2 or no?
yes i think PE firm is also a client of HH B. I'm not sure how close/exclusive a relationship it is, considering that HH B contacted me about the opportunity ~2 weeks later than HH A (but both HH submitted my resume around the same time/two days apart). however, since HH B was able to submit my resume, it must mean they have some sort of relationship with PE firm.
