What I'm about to ask is ridiculous
So I'm a junior at a top LAC and have been lucky enough to attend 3 BBs' diversity recruiting events (1 in freshman year, 2 in sophomore year). Also been to valuation workshops sponsored by banks and another event by a well-connected foundation (business-type, promoting presence of a minority group in banking/consulting and business schools; partner with most BB and top and elite BS).
They're all selective and, imo, quite legit. I used to include this in my resume to fill white space and to show that I'm a LAC kid that is serious and active about this whole finance thing. My mentor who works at a BB was totally fine when I suggest adding these to the resume.
Now after a summer of 2 jobs I don't have any space left. But not sure about leaving that part out though. My internships were not entirely banking-related - one is econs/finance research, another is technology (wasn't able to land any, did not know of boutique cold-calling either) except for a PWM one in freshman year; that's why I want to be specific when indicating my interest.
Thoughts?
Why don't you put your resume up and let us review it. I'm sure we can solve the issue.
Agreed with yeahright. Show us the resume and we can help then.
You can signal diversity other ways (listing membership or officership in a club), but if you really want to put these programs on your resume, I'd think there's a fairly concise way to put all the information under "training" or "conferences" or something. Need to post the actual thing to see though.
