What to do going forward?
I'm interested in corporate banking/investment banking. I would rather be in corporate banking with credit analysis or DCM for IB. I think that's the best in-between of making decent money and having free-time. I do not want to be ultra sweaty working 100+ works weeks. I'm a junior right now. I kinda of struck out with recruiting and blew my super day for IB at a MM. I had a super day for CB but I am still waiting to hear back as I got waitlisted. However, I switched my major to accounting as a hedge just in case I couldn't get banking and I ending up getting a big 4 offer for audit. I can't help but be disappointed as I have worked so hard to get this far and I see people who barely put in any effort end up at the same place I did when I have been slaving way, sacrificing physical and mental health to get to this point. However, I think I have a really good resume but it was too little too late. I am a non-target but I have a 3.9+, a wealth management intern at a pretty big RIA, currently interning part time at LMM investment bank that has pretty decent dealflow. Additionally, I was an associate analyst in my school investment fund last semester, and currently now a lead analyst. I think why I got wrecked on recruiting is I'm doing so much and stretched thin. The internship ends up being 25 hours a week and I'm not stop working and skipping lunch. Also, the investment fund is a lot of work, and I'm taking a full course load with hard accounting classes. After I got the big 4 offer; I finally was able to take a deep breathe and relax. I don't know if I can continue to recruit for MM IB that have later deadlines. The past 2 months have been awful with me grinding sunrise to sun down, ignoring people because I am so busy, sacrificing sleep to make ends meet, my grades not being where I want them to be, eating like shit, my roommates forgetting I exist, etc. I don't mind working hard, it's just the recruiting part is awful. However, I think I would have a pretty good start at FT recruiting if it was something like Corporate Banking. Additionally, I would hopefully be able to move up to the fund that manages real money and be able to put that on my resume. Also, I think having an audit internship at the big 4 would help my resume as it would complement my finance background. Especially since credit analysis/ investment banking is accounting heavy. Also, for Ft recruiting. I would just be taking class so I would have a lot more time to focus on that and not be stretched so thin like I am now.Ofc, if can just quit everything and say I'm going to be an accountant at the big 4 but man, I have worked so hard to get here. I don't want all my work to go to waste when I could have easily gotten here. The bar is very low for big 4 (especially if you fit the rainbow.)Thoughts? Also, if I get the corporate banking offer. This post is irrelevant. Also wound like to say I was grinding my ass all last semester to the point of fainting from exhaustion and also spent the summer grinding at 40 hour a week internship, taking summer class, and learning technicals. Additionally, if I were to decline the big 4 accounting offer, that would stress my mom out a lot. My moms been through a lot with beating cancer and other health problems. She has been really stressed out seeing the way I have been. She has really been my biggest supporter through this process and she as so happy for me when I got the audit offer..
