When TF to Start Networking

Rising sophomore at semi-target. When do I start networking lol? Some people say start August/September for Summer 2025 (which is kinda insane, I dont even have a sophomore internship) and other people say starting in Jan 2024 is "early." I'm actually confused.

Start during fall semester ( so, I guess now?). You want to have a strong network before the applications open, it shows you're genuinely interested regardless of the role being open and the people you're reaching out to will obviously be getting more emails once they've opened applications. Applications opened up Jan / Feb for BB and EB 2024 SA and I was late starting to apply / network in march and paid the price. Then when you do apply and you can follow up with those connections you have built along the way. GL from a fellow non target.

Thanks. Quick follow up, how many times did you talk to your solid contacts? Like 2 or 3 times with a month or two gap?
