Where to go

Graduated 2010, definitely a non target school, I am from Canada and Manitoba to boot.
Currently working in commercial banking IB/SME 1 year now

I am enrolled to write the level one CFA®
middle of the year.

Open to moving wherever, Canada or stateside or abroad. I would like to get into Asset Management and eventually to a hedge fund.

While I do not possess the typical attributes of someone wishing to get into the field, I have spent a long time working directly in the oil and gas field, On oil and natural gas drilling rigs, putting in long and hard days and spent a few summers working 80-100 hours a week, working 2-3 jobs to pay for school and all my debt.

When I look back on it, it would of been a lot more beneficial to be doing more real world/career internships during the summer/school year. However, these are the cards I have dealt myself and am just wondering the best avenue to approach.

Any suggestions or comments are helpful.

I hope this is in the appropriate forum.

Track down some bankers in Houston that work for oil and gas IB teams. They're very open to people from industry.

People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.
