why being asked for more interviews?
hi there,
would appreciate any thoughts on this, i have been interviewing with a large IB for a position i really want and believe i am qualified for. spoken to 12 people so far including the hiring manager. it was 1 telephone interview, went into their offices and met with 2 people and then went back a couple of days later spent the whole day there and met the rest of the team....the next day the hiring manager emailed me saying that he wants me to meet someone else! by that stage i thought it was over and i should be hearing back regarding their decision...i was one of the first to be interviewed so there are a couple of people still in the process....anyway the hiring manager gave me an exact timeline to when he will be making a decision which is the end of this week....so i am expecting to have another interview before then....is him wanting me to speak to more people positive? how would you read this? and why so many interviews?

They wouldn't invite you back if they weren't still interested, so focus on crushing the last interview.
They're interviewing you becuse they're considering you for the position, or else they wouldn't waste their time.
Unless you've been on the street for a while and understand what's going on, don't say shit about it. Show up to the next interview with a smile on your face. Nobody fucking cares what you think is the right amount of interviews. You do it, or they'll find somebody else that will. That fucking simple.
As a guy I trust who has survived a lot longer than I have said to me when I was a young impressionable lad who had just been moved to a role I wasn't entirely happy with - "Welcome to Wall Street kid. What you want to do doesn't fucking matter. You do what the guy that signs you paychecks tells you to do to survive, or you tap out." In this case, you're being told to jump. There's really only two possible answers - "fuck off" and "how high?"
thanks guys for your insights. i am going to stop thinking too much about it and wait, there is nothing much i can do at this stage. the positive thing is by the end of the long day where i met with many people from the team, the hiring manager came to see me before he went to a meeting, thought thats odd for him to have come all the way to thank me for coming and then the next morning on the phone he said "we are speaking to you with interest" the only thing was him saying there are nother couple of people in the process which kind of made me doubt myself,,...but will wait and see
