Would you consider this situation normal? Brother fired after 4 months on the Job.
My brother was recently fired from a consulting firm for mistakenly sending a confidential email to the wrong person. It was his first job out of college but he had several reputable internships prior to joining the firm.
Would you consider this a typical event or extreme outlier? I didn't know firms could be this cut throat. I would also note that he is a minority, this could be a factor. Happy to hear everyone's thoughts.
Can you be a bit more specific? "Confidential email to the wrong person." What does that mean? To the wrong person inside the organization? A friend of his outside the organization? A random person? How confidential are we talking about here? Hard to really comment without additional detail.
Apparently he Cc'd someone outside of the organization that had the same name as his manager.
The project he was working on at the time included a BB that was getting ready to roll out a new product for money managers. They classified all information regarding the project as "confidential". The actual information within the email included notes about meetings held with this particular client, the BB. More specifically, it was about their market strategy.
I know we all make mistakes, but I feel like firing an early post grad for something so small as an email is kind of harsh. This literally could have happened to anyone.
