Would you take this job offer or hold out?

I am from a non-target school and ideally wanted to pursue a career in equity research. I interned at UBS for close to two years in wealth management and have a pretty good background coming from a non-target. I have a 4.0 major gpa and 3.5 overall gpa. I received a competitive offer as a research analyst for a lesser known niche economic consulting firm. The experts in the firm have worked on some of the largest cases in the U.S. and one expert is a dean from a top ten b-school. Since it is small I will be able to work with the experts. However, I am also going through the interview process with 3 of the top 4 largest credit rating agencies. Additionally, earlier in the year I even managed to get an interview with Deutsche Bank as a junior analyst. I want to pursue the CFA and I figured I could leverage the cases that deal with mergers and valuation into a career in IB or equity research, but after doing some reading it appears the exit opportunities for economic consulting aren't that great.

If you were me, would you take the offer or hold out? The job market isn't that great either and there is also no guarantee I will receive an offer at the other companies I am interviewing at.

You have to ask yourself whether or not you want to first job. You don't have time to think about the "what if's." You either want it or you don't. If you'd rather work for one of those other firms, then you just need to put the time and effort into getting an offer.

If It's something like the Analysis Group, take it. Those guys go to M7 business schools and you get to work with some of the smartest people on the planet.

The last act is tragic, however happy all the rest of the play is; at the last a little earth is thrown upon our head, and that is the end for ever.
