Wrong ACA Qualification - Screwed?

Hi,

I am about to start a grad scheme at a B4 in the UK in audit (reg office but close to Ldn).

Have been informed recently that I will not be completing the ICAEW ACA, but the ICAS CA instead which is apparently the Scottish equivalent.

Aiming to ideally break into ER at a BB/EB/MM in a few years from now post qualification maybe directly from audit as I've seen this happen, or potentially giving a TAS transfer a shot and looking at smaller PE/corp dev roles from there.

Just wanted to know whether the qualification (ICAS vs ICAEW) could have any effects at making me less competitive as I've seen many recruiter ads ask for ACA, but not sure if CA from ICAS is considered the exact same or would put me at any disadvantage at all?

Feel like if it's a significant disadvantage at this point, it may make me reconsider path and do smthg else such as quit the grad role after a year for a masters as I understand my goal jobs are probably a big ask from audit as is - so any thoughts appreciated.

I have seen a couple people having done ICAS get ER roles from B4 audit in the UK, not sure if it would have been harder. Seems like a less common qualification.

So how exactly would this be viewed/what would the disadvantages be?

Thanks!

It'll make no difference whatever.

Sorry for the short response to a lengthy post - not being dismissive but it sounds like you've overthought a minor issue to an astronomical level. It's recognised as equivalent to the ACA, that's enough. The real challenge is, once qualified, making the transition (irrespective of your specific qualification). As you note, it's hard, for sure, but doable (as I'm often posting on these forums).
