Hi... I recently got a job offer at GS an they are doing a background check and it has been almost 3 weeks and I am still waiting for the response

Does anyone have any insight on background check results for disclosed DUI misdemeanor charges?
Similar experience at another BB: No news = No need to worry.

Well no its just that i have international background verification
Most IBs do fbi background checks, hence the fingerprints.

no not yet they keep telling me that I will get updates this week so I am still waiting

Anyone else here having to wait a while/had to wait a while in the past? My background check has been going for over 5 weeks and still no response. Should I call them?
mine has been approved for about 3 weeks already now...currently working on GS university stuff

Are you an incoming associate? Maybe it's because I am an incoming analyst. I also interned there so they may have my info already. It took about 1-2 months?

Just an update - got preliminary approval on my check; took about 8 weeks.
Do you know what that means though? I got that as well but I'm not sure what it entails.
Not sure, my hope is preliminary approval is enough, but I may be wrong.

Mid July, but it seems crazy that you would start in two weeks and they wouldn't have finished by now. Definitely weird.
Maybe they do fingerprints during training or something else that they are missing...perhaps an i-9 form or something that has yet to happen?
I'm not sure. I was talking with a few other people who all said their bosses from before have not been contacted yet to verify previous employment. Maybe that comes later?

Hi, I'm also an incoming analyst and mine has been going on over the past 10 weeks... I have an international background and will have to relocate to a new country in a month. I haven't even purchased the flight tickets yet, since I'd prefer to purchase once the BG check is cleared. Should I be concerned? Any comment will be appreciated.
does it say preliminary approval? if so then there's nothing to clear...that's the last step

@ mrchow: No, I haven't even received a preliminary approval... now mine has been going on for 11 weeks. But I was told that some people's BG checks haven't cleared even a week before the commencement of work... My starting date is still a few weeks away from now, so I assume I may have to wait a little longer...
Anyone here about former employers being contacted? I still have not heard from any of my references about being called and I'm getting a bit nervous.
