10g creatine a day for cognition benefits
Saw this online for benefits “A daily dose of 10 grams of creatine may significantly boost brain creatine levels and enhance cognitive function, especially during stress or sleep deprivation, by overcoming the saturation limit of 5g/day that primarily benefits muscle tissue.”
Has anyone tried this?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, there isn't specific mention of creatine supplementation for cognitive benefits in the provided dataset. However, discussions around cognitive enhancers and supplements like nootropics, Lion's Mane, Ashwagandha, and others are highlighted. For example:
If you're considering creatine for cognition, it might be worth exploring alongside these other supplements. However, always consult a healthcare professional before starting any new supplementation, especially at higher doses like 10g/day.

I do low dose creatine (about 5 mg) for other reasons but I haven’t noticed that it helps my focus much.
You have to take at least 10 for cognitive benefits
wife and i have been taking 5mg creatine since we had our second kid. have found much less brain fog with the lack of sleep during that time. both of us definitely feel a difference and this has been a far more sleep deprieved experience than the first kid
That's what I've been hearing. I've been taking 5g/day for years cause gym, but now people who don't workout are taking it cause they think it's gonna make them limitless.
I’ve taken 5mg for years. There is actual evidence that it helps athletic performance.
Is there actual evidence that doubling that serving would help with “cognition” or is this just more wellness influencer bullshit?
There's evidence but most people just don't bother to read the literature. 10g is when cognitive benefits start to kick in. Some studies suggest it can negate the cognitive decline effects of missing an hour or 2 of sleep.
If you don't sleep well taking a big dose will help your cognition.
I take 5mg every morning before working out but other than helping me get swole I haven't noticed cognitive benefits. Maybe I'll try 10mg this week and see.
I've been running 8-10g daily (heaped scoop or scoop and a bit) for a couple years, all I notice is fat pumps 💪 supposedly there are benefits to memory but how would one notice
My understanding has been that you need 20g for cognitive benefits and its really only noticeable if you are incredibly short on sleep
I’ve heard that if you want to truly maximize cognitive benefits you need to be taking at least 40g daily. At that dose your need for sleep will slowly disappear
There are peer reviewed studies online that aren’t that hard to find that support this claim.
It’s also somewhat weight dependent, but for most guys it ends up being closer to 10 than 5 per day. I take ~8 per day and have noticed benefits, but maybe they’re placebo.
