Yes, more than feasible. Obviously depends on your definition of decent quality, but you can 100% find a non-Harlem apartment for 6k with 2 other roommates in Manhattan.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, living with roommates in NYC for around $2k/month is feasible, but it depends on the neighborhood and the quality of the apartment. Here are some insights:
Murray Hill / Gramercy: These areas are popular for young professionals working in Midtown. With roommates, you can find options in the $1.5k-$2.25k range. Nightlife is good, and the location is convenient for Midtown offices.
Long Island City (LIC): Located in Queens, LIC offers lower costs of living while being just 1-2 train stops from Midtown. Prices are generally lower, but if you aim for nicer neighborhoods like Hunter's Point, costs might increase slightly. Nightlife isn't great here, but proximity to the city compensates.
Hudson Square: This area can range from $1.5k-$2.5k with roommates. It's a bit farther from most offices, but it's a viable option for those looking to save on rent.
Battery Park City (FiDi): Popular for Downtown offices, this area is another option to consider, though specific pricing wasn't detailed in the threads.
Rooming with 2-3 others will help you stay within budget while securing a decent place. However, be prepared for upfront costs like security deposits, broker fees, and proof of income requirements (e.g., 40-65x monthly rent or a guarantor making 100x monthly rent). Used Zillow, filtered for 3+ bedroom under 6k. Seems like East Village, Lower East Side, Yorkville (UES), Hell's Kitchen, and Murray Hill are your best options. If you want to save or get a nicer place, you can go to Harlem or leave Manhattan entirely for Hoboken/Brooklyn/Queens
