Not saying head monkey doesn't need to eat or get paid, just that some of these out of control ads can wear on someone. And that's on Google/AWS/etc and not just WSO. Tangent: watching a Youtube video and close to three minutes of the ten minute video are ad callouts?

Awful. Makes the site impossible to navigate and look low-quality.
To be clear, not opposed to ads - I don't mind non-pop up, stationary ads, but the ones that overlap content, show up in the right corner that need to be Xed out, and are moving around are awful. Feels spammy.
