Any tech purchases you regret making?

I recently started full-time and I have been thinking about finally making some of the tech purchase that I have been putting off (e.g. getting a work PC as my personal/school computer was a Mac, deciding between a iPad and an ereader as iBooks on my Mac is kind of annoying sometimes, etc.).

Are there any tech purchases you regret purchasing or never use anymore? Alternative, any tech purchases you're getting a lot of value out of? Items you have been gifted work as well.

Tech purchases I regret: Iwatch or whatever it's called. Ebook reader (My eyes just don't enjoy reading off a screen)

Things I would like to purchase: New PC (Mine is old and I'd like to revamp it with Intel/Nvidia instead of my AMD combo) New Phone [Mine's extremely slow (S5)] A work laptop, just because I don't have one and it would make working away from my desktop much easier

Just an Undergrad trying to get a job. Something you disagree or dislike about my posts? Let me know by PM'ing me or commenting constructive criticism.

DMC DeLorean.

It accidentally sent me to the 1950s, where I ran into the younger versions of my parents!! I had to make sure they fell in love (banged) so I didn't disrupt the space time continuum and disappear. Just a raucous adventure.

Probably this iPhone 8 I am going to buy for $1k+.

Any have a desktop PC for remoting in? Is it worth it? Thinking of getting a $1k+ PC w/ high-end graphics card and all that, dual monitors too. Think it would have any purpose for work?

With you on that iPhone, I anticipate buyer's remorse within 6 months of purchase. Get hyped!

Re. the PC for remote access - what do you need it for? Unless you're crunching through big data in Hadoop / Spark chances are you don't need more than a high-end laptop. If you're set on remote access, just get an EC2 instance via Amazon. Way more power at a much lower cost without you having to own the hardware.

Depending on how your VPN / remoting software works, it's highly unlikely you'll be limited by the power of your computer. I could be wrong here but I believe that you connect to a work server which runs your work desktop via what is essentially a browser on your home laptop - therefore you only need something with minimal power. Personally for remote working I always have my MBP docked into 2 screens at home so that works fine. Also, $1k will not buy you a decent computer + good GFX card + 2 monitors.

Tech purchases I regret..... Probably none. I get several analysis paralysis when spending anything over $50 on an item like that so I spend about 3 weeks doing research and end up with the right choice. Although I'm now eyeing up a new $3k MBP to go with the $1000+ iPhone so chances are one of these will give buyers remorse.
