Not going to be an extremely helpful response here since I don't use a USAA credit card, but I did use them for my vehicle loan and I use them for my extended vehicle protection package... their customer service is top notch and I found those two products to be highly competitive against their peers so I would assume their credit card offering is similar.
You know you don't even need military affiliation to use USAA? I have an account to rent cars cheaper.

Yeah USAA and Navy Federal are good.
I'm actually doing some research right now and it looks like the Cashback Rewards Plus American Express card is pretty solid. 5% back on gas and military base purchases on first $3k spent (1% thereafter), 2% groceries on first $3k (1% thereafter) and 1% on all other purchases (no limit).
I have USAA for a lot of services. Great customer service. Might not be the absolute best rate, but will be competitive and I'll give up a few basis points for great and reliable service.
