Anyone Else Mountain Bike?
Yo,
I got into Mountain Biking at the beginning of this year and have fallen in love with the sport. I've done a couple races and gotten a lot better in less than a year and have gotten a lot more in shape.
When I'm on the client-site (consultant, here), I find myself fantasizing about hitting the trails when I get home, or buying a Santa Cruz bike that I can't afford. Next year I'm looking to move to Charlotte where I can be in a big enough city and still have access to the mountains.
Anyone else mountain bike?
Have wanted to get into DH for many years but there's literally nowhere to do it in the midwest, so I never did. Hoping that someday I can make an attempt.
I'm seriously considering just becoming a bum for a few years and living off my savings and skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. Picking up an odd job at a bar or just day trading. Would be a hell of a lot more fun than working 70 hour work weeks.
I knew a girl that did this. She left for 2 years to go to Colorado, then came back to the same city with a better job than before in consulting. I was like how the hell did you do that? lol
I don't know if I could ever do that, but I envy the people that can. I would love to spend a long period of time in CO tearing it up on a DH bike though. Or anywhere in the PNW.
Can someone do a risk assessment on this? :-D
Massive mountain biker here. Raced the Trans Cascadia this year, best event out there. I highly suggest it.
I'm going to be working in San Francisco this summer for an internship, anyone know what the riding scene is like down there? Any trails nearby that I can get to on a weekend when I have a quick little bit of time off?
Tons of good places in the Marin Headlands
I don't even bike but I know that area, now I want to start biking. Absolutely beautiful out there.
any specific trails you recommend?
We used to have a cabin in Montana and during the summers I'd mountain bike....some of the most fun I've ever had. I've heard they've really enhanced the obstacles/terrain since I last went. Really hope I can get back out there soon! I'm in the mid-west and there aren't a lot of opportunities here :(
Met some guy at a PE fund in Park City... Couldn't imagine how sick it would be to ski in the winter and mountain bike/fly fish in the Summer.
SEND IT FOR THE BOYS !!!
Ive broken soo many bones from that one line.
Yeah Im 100% addicted to downhill mountain biking, I try and go every weekend. The adrenaline rush from shredding through a trail is unreal. Also, its very rewarding to feel yourself progress as you hig bigger jumps and clear bigger gaps. Broke two fingers over the course of the summer, but 100% worth it!
Both of your points are so accurate.
Nothing more fulfilling that nailing that jump or section that scares the shit out of you and eventually being able to ride it like no big deal and it's so confidence inspiring.
No broken bones yet but I've been in a few bad wrecks where I've cut my calf and ankle open pretty bad.
feel that, broke both my wrists mountain biking and pushed all my fingers out of alignment snowboarding. Now, back to mountain biking and in my opinion it requires more coordination and dedication due to the maintenance you have to go through to stay solid. Dirt biking and mountain biking are my fixes, taking out the street bike is a nice warmup for the weekend.
Surprised its not more popular, one of the best adrenaline fixes out there.
During cycling, the eyes of a person are actively trained. The constant focusing of the sight on close and distant objects, the rapid translation of the sight from a distant object to a close one - all this stimulates the activity of the eye muscles, thus eliminating the occurrence of a number of diseases. This is very useful, so I advise everyone to take in rent mountain bike in
Huge fan, cant get enough. I've built 2 miles of technical trail on my property and ride most days when home.
that's sick! family member and I are building a track this summer. We built one for primarily dirt biking, but trying to make hybrid one for MTB & dirt biking now
I mountain bike, I’m out in the Midwest though so it’s more like hill / woods biking. Still is pretty dope - definitely one of my favorite things to do in the warmer months.
How do you find time to mountain bike though working 70 hours?
