Apparently it's normal to have +10 interviews for one job

How many interviews did it take you to get hired?  How many interviews does it take for you to hire someone?  Seems like everyone is having tons of interviews

Unless you're hiring for a C-suite exec, 10 interviews is simply insane. The candidate is interviewing the firm just as much as the firm is interviewing them, and 10 is a giant red flag that the company is disorganized, has no respect for employees' time, or has unrealistic expectations for the role. I had a process that got to 8 interviews, all an hour or more with 2 hitting three hours - I dropped out as soon as they tried to schedule more.

4 or 5 total interviews is the sweet spot for any role under VP. Do 2 on 1 if you want more team members evaluating them.

Even 4 or 5 seems like too much.  What more could you learn about someone?  In tech you could have a technical round, a behavioral round, and maybe a system design round if you're interviewing for a high ranking position.  That's still 2-3.

It’s not what more you learn about their capabilities, it’s about multiple members of the team getting to know them and ensuring they’re a cultural fit and that you‘ll enjoy (or at least tolerate) the next however many years working together. 10 may be excessive, but there’s an underlying reason to spend more time with someone before hiring them
