Lots of misinformation around this topic with lots of misleading headlines flying around. Apple is trying to scan the hashes of the photos on the phone and comparing those hashes to a database of hashes known to be CP so no one at Apple will be seeing the local photos on your phone (your dick pics won’t be mistaken for a child’s). Also they already do this with all of the cloud saved photos and this is bringing it local.
That being said, I still think it’s a dangerous path to go down and the same methodology to find CP can be used by bad actors, governments, etc. down the road.
