Are passwords going be to obsolete?

You know that you've forgotten your password before and thought, "Well, if I can't remember my password, then no one else can hack my account and that's great security." But is it? According to Brian Lennon's article,

Poorly chosen and repeatedly used passwords are easy to guess, either through computational techniques (such as the “dictionary attack,” which might test all known words and word combinations in a particular language) or so-called social engineering (that is, tricking someone into disclosing a password).
It seems that passwords can easily be found through malicious means, but that is not even the largest issue with passwords as dissociation is.

As the article points out, if a hacker has your password, even if it is a random set alphanumeric characters, they can use it anywhere without your consent. However, if there are biometric security measures, people can only use their biometric security measures if it is associated with them, which leads to added security and control.
In the future, hackers can probably develop techniques to gather biometric data to hack a person's account, but for now, biometric security measures will probably spell the end for passwords.
What are your thoughts?

There are some serious Fifth Amendment issues with biometric sensors. At least with a password, you cannot be compelled to disclose it to authorities as it could be self incriminating, should they want to search something locked with a password. However, authorities can compel you to cooperate with their search by unlocking your phone/computer/anything with your thumbprint/face/whatever.

For now, be happy you can still be hacked.

I see the future likely being a combination of both if you have a simple easy to remember password that is coupled with biometrics you get the "best" of both worlds so to speak. You prevent malicious third party attacks and you prevent government intrusion. It's like upfront two factor authentication.

I agree with you that account security is not obsolete and I believe that passwords with biometrics will be the future. The main concern with passwords is the machines can crack them.
