Best Album Ever

Title says it all- what do you monkeys think the best musical album ever produced is (greatest hits albums don't count)? Any genre, any era. Even the best artists produce some shitty songs so you gotta take into account how much the good ones outweigh the bad ones in any certain album. That being said, I gotta go with Billy Joel's The Stranger; every single song is absolute gold and it solidified him as one of the top solo artists of his time.

The Beatles - Revolver

The Clash - London Calling

If I can cheat: Queen - Greatest Hits I

Interesting. I'm a huge classic rock fan so obviously Boston is a top choice but I only ever vibed with Don't Look Back, Peace of Mind, Smokin', Amanda, Foreplay, More Than A Feeling, and My Destination. Maybe I've been missing out since other than those I couldn't really name any of their other stuff.

Edit: I realize you were talking about the album not the actual band. I'll have to check the last three songs out-never heard em before

Darkness on the Edge of Town - Springsteen

Dirt - Alice in Chains

Starboy - The Weeknd

Vs. - Pearl Jam

My favorite albums tend to change, just depends on what I’ve been listening too for the past couple of weeks.

The correct answer is Dark Side of the Moon.

Disagree, while I own it there's nothing you can really sing along to or really drive to.  I find that it's overrated for anything other than listening to while you're stoned out of your mind.  Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I think it's overrated.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

I'm not really a fan of listening to full albums, but the only one that I've made it through completely and enjoyed is The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

That album is the music equivalent of getting drunk when you’re just a little sad and getting lost in your thoughts when out with friends

I'm going to cheat with the first one: The Eagles Greatest Hits

It is a masterpiece in its own right.

If I have to follow the rules: Born to Run. Just look at the track list.  No matter how little you care about the boss, I promise that you can sing three of the eight songs on the album from memory.

@Rush2112"  must be an old guy like me.   My favorite album is

Billy Joel's The Stranger followed by:

Glass Houses, Storm Front and 52nd street.

This is the best answer I've seen so far. Almost every single song on this album is a hit.

You can have all the appreciation for albums like Dark Side of the Moon (Ive seen Waters live multiple times) but no matter how much you like floyd, you cant just throw them on at any point in time like you can with most of the songs on Rumours. With the Beatles or the Stones, there are typically 1-2 duds on every album (would love to hear of an exception). People referencing Bruno Mars and other modern pop artists don't warrant a response.

Also, it is rock album loved by women as well, which I think speaks to its ability to influence. Would love to hear an argument for a better album.

I was scrolling down and felt the need to say it.

Lots of good stuff in this thread already, but greatest hits albums are basically cheating IMO.

My non-exhaustive list of Front-to-Back'er albums below, in no order (includes some repeats):

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (really needs to be listened to in one sitting, front to back for full effect, ideally enjoyed with a joint and a beer)
AC/DC - Back in Black, Dirty Deeds, Highway to Hell
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Justice - Justice
The Arkells - Jackson Square
Arctic Monkey - AM
Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have it so Much Better
The Strokes - Angles
Led Zeppelin - I, II
Boston - Boston
Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy
Green Day - American Idiot
Said the Whale - Howe Sounds, Islands Disappear
Audioslave - Audioslave
Mt. Joy - Mt. Joy
MeatLoaf - Bat Outta Hell
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Band of Skulls - Baby Darling Dollface Honey
Cage the Elephant - Cage the Elephant
Mumford & Sons - Sigh no More

Big Wild - Superdream
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Deadmau5 - 4x4=12
Def Leppard - Hysteria
Van Halen - Van Halen, 1984 (RIP)
Greta Van Fleet - From the Fires
Zhu - GENERATIONWHY
Glorious Sons - Young Beauties and Fools
Jet - Shaka Rock
July Talk - July Talk
Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon
Macklemore - The Heist
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
RHCP - Stadium Arcadium, By the Way
The Sheepdogs - Trying to Grow
Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
Vulfpeck - Live at Madison Square Garden
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

This is starting to get outta hand so I'll cut it here. Rap and Country are two genres I also listen to quite heavily that aren't really well represented on this list...

>inb4 someone posts a tired and cliched Huey Lewis/American Psycho reference

I think it’s a toss up between Beatles sgt peppers and MJ Thriller. Those two stick out in my mind as the most ground breaking albums of all time.
So many honorable mentions though: Abby road Zeppelin IV Pink Floyd dark side of the moon The Who. Tommy Guns and Roses appetite for destruction Nirvana Nevermind Red Hot Chili Peppers bssm Aerosmith get a grip Pearl Jam ten Outcast Stankonia Marshal Mathers LP Kanye fantasy

If you like The Who check out their album released last year called The Who. IMO, so many great songs (I Don't Wanna Get Wise, Ball and Chain, Hero Ground Zero, All This Music Must Fade, etc.) and for a while I had no idea it was released so recently.
