best neighborhoods around santa monica? looking at brentwood/westwood/sawtelle/culver city, etc. right now and don't know if it makes sense to live a bit further away for cheaper rent and better apartment conditions...seems like any barely liveable 2b2b rents are $4500+ in these places. was hoping to save on rent moving from sf/nyc to la.

You didn’t say anything about the best bars in LA?

Are you working in SM or just want to be close to the ocean? I worked in Brentwood and lived in WeHo, the commute wasn't terrible, but a lot of people lived in SM itself. I also spent some time in Sawtelle and liked it.

I'd recommend living east of the 405 though, people who move to LA and live on the west side never leave it and you miss out on like 85% of the city. There is so much great stuff beyond the 405, WeHo, Miracle Mile, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Downtown, Ktown, Beverly Hills, etc.

my office is in brentwood. i just thought the surrounding areas would be nice to live in because of proximity to both office and interesting neighborhoods like santa monica, westwood village (maybe?), etc.

How's the parking situation in Brentwood (where the office buildings are), is it free/easy? if it's a couple hundred $ in parking fees per month, i might as well live somewhere within walking distance.
