Best pub in London
Just wanted to get the ball rolling, to get some of the Londoners dreaming of a post-pandemic pint. What does everyone think is the best pub in London?
Two I anticipate will come up immediately are the Anglesea Arms and the Phene.
Other than that, a few I like are the Lamb (incredible interior), ye Olde Mitre and Cittie of Yorke.
Thoughts?
Dirty Weatherspoons always does the trick
spoons is up there. top tier pubs. they make any airport trip an adventure of limitless proportions
You nailed mine with Anglesea Arms
Anglesea for sure!
lamb and flag is cool because of all the history behind it. though not a pub, Gordon’s wine bar is good
If we're being serious, I think https://www.google.com/search?q=ye+olde+chesire+cheese&rlz=1C1GCEB_enGB…</a">Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street has to easily be in the top 3. Super cool interior, quite historic and a classic.
Hehe, GS intern class of 2017 have some wicked stories from this place... Some won’t ever be able to show their faces there again.
My top 5 in no particular order:
Anglesea Arms (SK) Drayton Arms (Earls Court) Admiral Codrington (Chelsea) The Westbourne (Notting Hill) The Marylebone (Marylebone)
From my 4 day trip in London, I was extremely disappointed with pub quality in London. Pubs had very poor quality beer, and not too much to choose from..
However, your cocktail bars are awesome and inexpensive. Shout out to Shoreditch, where I almost lost my fking liver.
yeet shoreditch curry #1
The Crown and Sugarloaf, Fleet Street.
great bloody pub
A bit dated but from my London days:
Thomas Cubitt in Chelsea
Punch Bowl in Mayfair
White Horse in Parsons Green
Jerusalem in Clerkenwell
Guinea in Mayfair
Chelsea / South Ken: Anglesea Arms (The GOAT), the Phene, the Surprise, Chelsea Potter, Cadogan Arms on King's Road
Marylebone: Duke of Wellington, The Cavendish, The Larrik, Italians (Wine Bar), Grazing Goat, Devonshire Arms. Globe (Greene King) on Baker Street is great for any live Sport
Mayfair: Market Tavern, The Audeley, Guinea Grill, Burlington Arms, Barley Mow, the Footman
Belgravia: Wilton Arms, The Orange, Alfred Tennyson, The Grenadier
Central / West End: Lamb and Flag, The Porterhouse, Old Nel, Court, Marlborough Arms, The Admiral, the Rocket, Lore of the Land (Guy Ritchie's pub), Ye Old Bank of England (Fleet St)
Notting Hill / Maida Vale / West: Westbourne (another GOAT), The Pelican (over-touristy imo now), the Hero (tourist trap again), the Cow. Three Falcons is the best Indian gastro-pub in London
North London: Faltering Fullback is the best rugby pub in London, class atmosphere. Old Queen's Head (Islington). Betjemen Arms by King's Cross is a great place to have a pre-train pint stop. Queen's Head in Primrose Hill
City / London Bridge: Core Bar (happy hour 4-9pm), Bunch of Grapes, George, Bridge Tap. Greenwood Sports Bar
goat
South West / Clapham area: The Windmill is class, great spot to have an afternoon beer garden session. The Ship, No32 - plenty of other very nice pubs in and around Clapham/Wandsworth area. Avoid Pear Tree Cafe like the plague though
You'll end up being surrounded by Australians regardless, so you might as well ...
Core bar is filthy. Spent a lot of time during my internships there. Feral place, good fun.
