Biden vs. Ackman

I just read Joe Biden Asks The Eternal Question About Bill Ackman: “Who Is This Asshole?” . Essentially this article is about how Biden scolded Ackman.

Some say former Vice President Joe Biden is too old to run for president in 2020, but he still knows how to throw a verbal punch — just ask financier Bill Ackman. The controversial hedge fund manager, known for his losing bets on stocks like Herbalife and Valeant, got into a verbal tussle with Biden at a private dinner during recent investment conference. The incident, which hasn’t’ been reported, stunned an A-list group of attendees who witnessed Biden’s verbally scolding Ackman, according to three people who were present.

Oh, you guys, it’s even better than you think…

The altercation occurred at this year’s SkyBridge Alternatives (SALT) Conference, a popular Wall Street confab held in May and started by hedge fund impresario Anthony Scaramucci. Both Biden and Ackman were featured speakers during the event.

In order to save time and set the scene, The Mooch apparently invited a select group of attendees to eat dinner together the day that Biden had told the conference he thought he would have been a better candidate than Hillary Clinton. In that Vegas dining room (according to Gaspo’s reporting) was a fucking menagerie of celebrities and finance celebrities. In addition to Biden and The Ack-Man, the group included Jeb Bush, Jon Corzine, Vaeri Jarrett, George Papandreou and the Steves Harvey and Cohen. Sure, this could have been the least-filmable orgy of all time, but it was even better than that: During a private VIP dinner that night the question of why Biden didn’t run for president in 2016 was raised once again, by former Florida governor and 2016 GOP presidential contender Jeb Bush, who asked Biden “why didn’t you run?”

Biden explained that part of the decision stemmed from the death of his son Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer in 2015. The room grew quiet as Biden became emotional, and said: “I’m sorry…I’ve said enough.”

Wow. A genuine emotional moment created by a famously emotional man still coming to terms with the possible connection between a terrible personal tragedy and what he saw as a national crisis. In an intimate room, that kind of thing provokes the natural response of humanistic, quiet respect.

Unless you’re Bill Ackman of course…

That’s when Ackman blurted out “Why? That’s never stopped you before.”

Oh…Bill.

The formal, and understated dinner conversation suddenly turned tense, according three people who were present and confirmed both the substance and the wording of Biden’s responses.

Biden, these people say, turned to someone seated near him, and asked, “who is this asshole?,” a reference to Ackman.

We want to time-travel and revel in the obscene discomfort of this moment. We want to watch Jeb Bush’s eyes grow large at the spectacle of someone embarrassing himself on a Jeb Bush-level of embarrassment.

We want to feel Corzine realize that he’s not the least popular person in the room, and we want to hear Steve Cohen whisper “Oh, no he didn’t, player” to his best friend in the world, Steve Harvey.

And we want to experience how much worse it apparently got:

Then he turned directly to Ackman and stated: “look, I don’t know who you are, wiseass, but never disrespect the memory of my dead son!”

These people say Ackman attempted what was described as an apology, to which Biden said, “just shut the hell up.”

Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum, this exchange is funny. If you were in Ackman's shoes, what would you have done? What if you were in Biden's shoes?

Controversial

Kamchowder Biden is a prick and I don't understand Liberals who have this wet dream of him running for President in 2020 but that's besides the point.

What Ackman said was in bad taste but he isn't wrong. Biden is very opinionated and the slightest quip at him sets him off. For example remember when he went to a custard shop and asked how much he owed for ice cream? The employee/owner responded by saying, "Lower my taxes and we'll call it even" to which Biden responded by saying "Smartass" and then later when he realized he was being recorded said it was "Just a joke bro."

Fuck Biden. I'm sorry you lost your kid to cancer but you're a douche.

I think that there is a huge double standard with Biden. Anything he says should be praised and accepted like scripture, but his dissenters are treated with disrespect. I believe that Ackman and Biden are POS, but I just think think that Ackman's statement was a stupid move. If he runs in 2020, he will get clobbered, although I think it'll be interesting how he'll react to Trump's comments.

Not sure about the bold. At this point the Democrats NEED someone to be there anti-Trump and Biden would, in theory give their core base a boost. Question is whether or not people (i.e. Blacks) will be motivated enough to come out and vote for him. Also how would Biden fare in rural communities?

I agree on the double standard...it exists with Obama as well. Trump has possibly the best chance to truly accomplish great things but unfortunately he can't keep his mouth shut, has to Tweet stupid comments out, and picks fights like a 5 year old.

If only he would STFU and surround himself with capable advisers (he has some) and just do his damn job and what he campaigned on.

What I meant by clobbered is that I don't think that he will win the Democrat's nomination. With the polarizing nature of Trump's comments (and some of his views), I believe that many liberal voters will vote for someone who leans father to the left than Biden, such as Warren. I think that just because someone is anti-Trump doesn't mean that they will win the election, as they have to stand for something. This was demonstrated in the recent special elections. With Trump, I agree that he has to be quiet and think before he speaks.

You would make a great democrat strategist, run with the Trump hate and win zero elections. Pretty much the record to the democrat strategists since Bush Jr after the 2006 election. Democrats don't win elections because they have no platform, their heavyweights are old douchebags who favor corporatism. They can't win an election with that, they aren't pandering to anyone who holds those views anymore. Their base is made up of lifers who wouldn't vote for a conservative or independent even if the democrats ran Trump on their ticket.

People saying Biden 2020 are just plain stupid, he's not running for president at 80 years old. Anyways, no news Biden is oversensitive and has not filter and Ackman is arrogant and probably does not know when his opinion is not wanted. However at that point, if I were Ackman I probably would have made a reference to being able to buy Biden's entire life with a weeks salary, thats who the fuk I am.
