I was trying to speed through a model as quickly as I could because we needed to send it ASAP to a functional CFO . I used the format cell shortcut at a point (alt + h + o + e). I send it to my manager for a quick scan before sending it out. I get an email back from my manager "...why does it say 'hoe' in the line below net sale?"

Thankfully, she thought it was quite hilarious after the fact.

You gotta jam into that Alt button sometimes, lol

I was in a meeting with my team and the client for a Buyside deal we were advising them on. We had the model up on the big screen, which I was navigating them through. As one banker and the client were talking, I noticed that the margins and growth rates were totally mislinked for one of the cases we were discussing. I was thinking “oh F” but realized I could quickly fix it. I did so just in the nick of time before we started discussing that case. On that day I became even more grateful for the paste link function.

Was also glad no one was looking at the screen too closely like, “what he just do”

For some background, I like to have column A in all of my models be width 2. One time I noticed that it was 2.2 for some reason, but I fixed it before anybody else could see.

Just so you know, this is the point of checking your work and why attention to detail is important. It's not a mistake if you correct your work.

I had a bunch of work IMs opened and talked shit about the executive of the project in the wrong window, to the executive directly.

It was 3rd person. His name was Mike. I was like "Mike keeps telling us to do X, Y, its such bullshit and ... "

Then I saw I typed it TO Mike. SHIT. I even saw him 'typing' ... fuck! (that little thing that tells you when someone is typing on the screen). I had to think of something fast. So I typed real quick..

"That Mike guy..."

typing stopped... yesss yess ok ok..

"He makes us do all kinds of stuff we don't completely understand, but we do it for him as we believe in his leadership abilities for the team :)"

Then some cheerful back and forth banter ... fixed. . . phew

I literally typed a smiley face - sent him an emoji- hahahaha first emoji in our corporate relationship... ah it worked, he didn't even mention that ever. I was shitting bricks.
