normally wouldn't be all too excited, but now it's a source of diversion against the monotony that is taking hold of my quarantine life almost two months in -- so yes, although the show's certainly diminished in quality since seasons 1 & 2, given the our current circumstances I'm pretty pumped

So true. The trajectory this show was on in those first two season's was unreal. I still don't understand what the hell happened. It's as if they fired the entire show staff, and brought in a bunch of people that have no clue what this show is about and let them run free with reckless abandon and no direction. Let's hope they return to their roots.

On a side note: the Wisecrack take on show is fantastic! [The Problem With Game Theory – The Philosophy of Billions](

I heard the creators of the show like to replace the writers every season to keep the show fresh. I think it's such a stupid idea given the masterpiece that season 1 was. It's becoming melodramatic with Taylor and Bobby going after each other, and the lengths at which they do so. Season 1 was more about investing and finance, with a mix of drama and a good script, making it realistic to people in the field. The other seasons have been getting slowly out of whack.

This is correct, an acquaintance of mine was a season 4 writer. They flew her to NYC from LA for 5 months to write the season (and co-direct her episodes). She told me she disliked both law and business script writing. I'm not surprised that the quality has gone down each season (in my opinion). Really wondering why the executive producers are signing off on the recent seasons.

I enjoyed this unofficial crossover commercial with my two favorite characters. Looks like VW took it off their YT channel, but found it here:

I mean Taylor is a horrible character. Total Mary Sue. No development, just good at everything and it isn't believable at all. A 20ish year old bald gender fluid person comes into a top hedge fund and dominates. DUUUUMMMMBBB! I gave it a couple seasons after Taylor got introduced but I'm out as of mid season 4.

Also they do a ton of political posturing in the NY Attorney office scenes.

"Yeah the innocent dream seeking Mexican immigrant assaulted a white cop in self defense and the fat White AG from Texas who wears a red tie wants him dead despite conflicting evidence."

I mean why don't they just come out and say "Fuck those racist Republicans!"

Bummed after watching Ep 1 on Sunday. Strange to have such a boring season premiere. I also thought there was a lot of overacting and that took me out of it.

Hopefully Chuck gets wild again, he's a great catalyst.

I agree with your point completely. No one talks like the way the characters do in real life, Can you imagine how tiresome every single conversation would be if everyone spoke with proper grammar, every time they talked they delivered a mini-monologue, and they constantly gave of vibes of trying to one up you no matter the circumstance? Honestly not sure if I'll keep watching if the show keeps going down the same path

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

For me it's when Wendy gets really aggressive. She always seems like she's struggling to stay in character and about to laugh. Chuck and Axe cover it better because often they already have a smirk going on.

Ha exactly, reminds me of those dialogue screens in video games that serve to move the story forward but are laughably artificial.

I thought Ep 2 last night had a slightly better plot but even worse dialogue than Ep 1. Also seemed to be sponsored by Fiji water. Chuck was more interesting, Axe a little less. I think I miss Hall's weirdness.

“In a year you won’t be able to get me on the phone. I’m aligned. I can feel it. I’m about to go on the ride of life time. And if you wanna make money, climb TF aboard.” -?

"Fuck this place. I worked for a legend." -Dollar Bill. Billons is over!!

Honestly, a spin-off with Dollar Bill and Mafee in their own series instead of just part-time roles in Billions would be a better and more interesting show at this point. Bring in Victor as a mid-season introduction and addition to the team. Then as they say, "Boom goes the dynamite". Otherwise this is definitely going the way of Silicon Valley where the first few seasons were subject matter based instead of spinning off into "let's make up some we're mile wide but only inch deep smarter because I'm Sorkin" stuff.

...I'll still be watching because what else is worth watching these days?

I renewed my subscription with showtime just for this show, last season was quite weak. I hope it gets back on the intelligence level battles, need Dollar bill to get back into the action with his famous quote: I am not uncertain!

I'm not excited as I once was for the previous season openers. Is Billions slowly dying? Who's pumped?

Like succession, the last season of Billions was weak.
