Black shoes and brown belt?

i mean you could also go brown on brown lol, just dont do black on brown 

If you can remember just one fashion rule this may be it- do not mix black/brown belt and shoes.

If you take off the jacket, brown with black will not look good.  If you do not take off the jacket, no one will know.  I always try to match the belt color with shoes or sneakers. 

Absolutely not sir. Always match belt with shoes and if you’re going navy suit I’d recommend brown belt and shoes over black.. just personal preference

In the Navy, everyone wears black shoes except the pilots, who wear brown shoes. It is somewhat prestigious to wear brown shoes.

Dad always told me the rule is to match leather to leather (brown belt; brown shoes).

Maybe a similar question - Is “no brown in town” true in the US? I have black and brown dress shoes and matching belts. My office is apparently business casual for the summer.

Separately how appropriate are loafers or something like Chelsea boots in the office? Dark leather / suede.
