Blue Wave Effect on IB/PE
Any thoughts on yesterday's election and its implications.
I am thinking specifically about carry and the healthcare industry. What other democratic legislation could impact the industry?

That's true but I think he meant tax on carry and healthcare regulation, which Democrats touched on in the election.
Politics generally has little effect on PE. Both sides get tons of from PE donors and therefore leave the industry alone, whenever a politician brings up any regulation on PE (i.e. taxing carry as income) it falls away quickly and quietly. The last time this happened was the ToysRUs bankruptcy a couple years ago after KKR bought them and essentially looted the employee pension plan. A couple politicians were up in arms about it but it went away quickly.
Yeah I think it's a generally accepted principle in political science that niche areas of policy that impact a small but focused group in an adverse manner but where the benefits are diffuse and not easily understood by the laymen are generally left alone. Hopefully we're right.

Agreed, bashing it is an easy way to score some points but it never actually goes anywhere. However, given the environment today anything is possible.
